The "Shangri-la" docuseries discusses the infamous recording studio in southern California and the man behind most of the music produced there. Music producers are at the core of recording and creating a great song.
From Kanye West to The Band, an array of artists from so many different genres and generations have created art at Shangri-la, telling you just how important this recording studio is to the music world. Rick Rubin, the man, the myth, the legend, is an interesting character, to say the least. Rubin is the founder of Def Jam records and former co-president of Columbia Records, two huge recording labels, under this one man. In the docuseries, he discusses his childhood and life to becoming a world-famous record producer and how he knew at a young age he had a strong love for music.
Rubin's eye for detail within songs speaks to his artistic talent as we see him advise so many artists on how to make their song the best one yet. I have an appreciation for people who can listen to a song and tell an artist the tiniest details they might be missing. In one scene Rubin advises singer Daniel Cesar on what one cord should be added to his song to give it that unique flare. I highly recommend this series if you are interested in learning more about the people behind the music! Watch on showtime here.
