I hopped off the plane at MBJ...
While away in Jamaica, I experienced some new and some old music while talking with locals. Every day by the pool, they played music that guests could get up and dance to, which caught my attention. Rihanna, Bob Marley, Drake, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, you name it they played it. However, I embraced the local music that I had never heard in the United States.
Songs included Pepas by Farruko (now popular in the U.S.), but created by a Puerto Rican artist. It was so interesting to also see the Spanish flare used in Jamaica as a lot of people's second language to English is Spanish in Jamaica we were told.
With so many nationalities in one place, it was so cool to see how easily music brought us all together. We might not know each other's stories, but we sure do know how to sing Taylor Swift at the top of our lungs. By the end of my trip, I got to learn a little more about music from other countries and how important it is to explore mainstream music outside your realm of reach.
Here are some pretty pictures to take you there:
Sunrises and sunny skies.
