What is stemplayer? Ye releases new music in a new way.

The newly released 'Donda 2' will not be available on any music platform. Not Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and no not even Jay-Z's Tidal. The music artist has decided to release his music on a device called stemplayer, which is essentially an mp3. I will give it to him, the device has some cool features despite its small size.

The device allows you to isolate and alter bass, vocal, and drum levels as well as isolate track parts and add effects. In three days, Ye has sold over 10,000 of these and plans on continuing to manufacture more to keep up with demand. At a price of $200, it allows you to remix any song in the palm of your hands.

So why did Ye turn down a $100M deal from Apple Music to create an item of his own? The artist claims that artists are being used by the music industry to sell their music and yet they only make 12% of the profits. With that being said, he felt it was time to start his journey and teach these streaming platforms a lesson.

However, will this new method pan out the way Ye hopes it will? I believe it will definitely teach streaming platforms a lesson, but what about the fans? So far, there are mixed reviews, and many people are saying they are not willing to pay $200 to listen in. I, however, think in a way it is smart to make this an exclusive purchase, just as Jay-Z has done with Tidal. It allows consumers to realize your worth and I think Ye is at the point in his career that if he is going to release something like this, the time is now. It creates more stir around the album as well, meaning when or if it comes to streaming platforms, many users will flock to get a listen.

At the end of the day, Ye does not need everyone to buy his stemplayer. Superfans alone will keep him in business, but, the outcome of this will leave other fans eager to hear.
